# Turn a task you repeat into an Agent Skill (SKILL.md)

An interview-then-build prompt that packages your method (daily report, APU, model audit...) as a SKILL.md your AI will reuse, following the open Agent Skills standard.

Help me turn a task I repeat into an Agent Skill that you (and other agents) can reuse.

The task: [e.g. "review a subcontractor's monthly progress invoice against the contract and the measured quantities"]

Step 1 - Interview me (one question at a time, max 8 questions): when is the task triggered, what inputs arrive, what steps I follow, which rules or standards I apply, what the output looks like, common mistakes, and what must never happen. Ask me for 1-2 real examples of good output.

Step 2 - Write the skill as a folder:
- SKILL.md with YAML frontmatter:
  name: lowercase-with-hyphens (max 64 characters)
  description: one or two sentences saying WHAT it does and WHEN to use it, with the words a user would actually say (this is what makes the skill trigger).
- Below the frontmatter: purpose, inputs, step-by-step procedure, output format (with a template), checks before delivering, and "never do" rules.
- Optional: a references/ folder for long checklists or standards, and scripts/ for code the skill runs. Keep SKILL.md itself short and point to those files.

Step 3 - Test: give me two test requests (one that should trigger the skill and one that should not) and run the first one using the skill.

Step 4 - Tell me how to install it in my tool: [Claude app / Claude Code (~/.claude/skills/) / Codex (~/.agents/skills/) / other].
