--- name: rfi-writer description: Draft a request for information (RFI) about a design or document problem found on a construction project. Use when the user describes a conflict between drawings and site conditions, a clash, a missing detail, or asks to write an RFI or "solicitud de información". --- # RFI writer ## Procedure 1. Identify the single decision the designer must make. If there are several, write one RFI per decision. 2. Collect references: sheet numbers, spec sections, model element IDs. Ask for them if missing. 3. Draft: - Subject (specific, under 12 words) - Background: what the documents say (quoted, with references) and what was found - The question (one sentence, answerable with a decision) - Contractor suggestions (1-3 options), each labeled "pending designer decision", with likely cost/time implication - Needed-by date and the activity that depends on it - Attachments 4. Keep it under one page. ## Never - Never make the design decision or assign blame. - Never invent a reference; write "[reference needed]" instead.
