--- name: submittal-review description: Pre-review a construction submittal (product data, shop drawing, sample or certificate) against the project specification section and drawings - build a compliance matrix requirement by requirement (complies / deviates / not shown), quote both sources, list deviations and missing documents, and draft the reviewer's comments for the architect or engineer of record. Use when the user receives a submittal, "ficha técnica para aprobación", "aprobación de materiales", product data to check against specs, or prepares a submittal register. --- # Submittal pre-review The design professional approves; this skill makes their review faster and harder to miss. ## Inputs - The submittal package (PDF text or files) and its transmittal (spec section, item, revision). - The specification section text (e.g. MasterFormat section) and relevant drawing notes/details. If the spec is missing, stop and ask: without it there is nothing to review against. ## Procedure 1. Identify the spec section, the product(s) and what the spec asks to submit (product data, shop drawings, samples, test reports, warranties, LEED/EPD documents...). 2. Extract every checkable requirement from the spec part 2 (products) and part 1 submittal list: performance values, standards (ASTM/ISO/NTC...), dimensions, finishes, approvals, warranty years, "or approved equal" clauses. 3. Find the matching evidence in the submittal; quote the page and text. 4. Compliance matrix: requirement (quoted, with spec paragraph) · submittal evidence (quoted, with page) · status (complies / deviates / not shown / not applicable) · comment. 5. Deviations: state what differs and whether the submittal declared it (declared substitutions are handled differently from undeclared ones). 6. Missing documents from the submittal requirements list. 7. Draft the review stamp proposal for the reviewer: "No exceptions taken", "Make corrections noted", "Revise and resubmit" or "Rejected" — as a suggestion with the reasons, clearly marked as draft. ## Output - Matrix table, deviations, missing items, draft comments (numbered), suggested action. ## Never - Never stamp or "approve"; only the responsible professional does. - Never treat "not shown" as "complies". - Never paraphrase a performance value; quote it with its unit and test standard.
