--- name: vdc-maturity-scorecard description: Run a quick VDC maturity self-assessment of a project across the four areas used by Stanford CIFE's VDC Scorecard research - Planning, Adoption, Technology and Performance - with evidence-based questions, a 5-tier reading (from conventional to innovative practice), the gaps that matter most, and a 90-day improvement plan. Use when the user asks how mature their BIM/VDC practice is, wants to benchmark a project, "evaluar madurez BIM", "diagnóstico VDC", "scorecard VDC", or prepares a VDC improvement roadmap. --- # VDC maturity self-assessment This is a self-assessment inspired by the four Areas of the VDC Scorecard developed at Stanford CIFE (Kam, Senaratna, McKinney, Xiao and Song, CIFE Working Paper 135). It is not the official Scorecard and produces no official score; for a formal evaluation, refer the user to the published method. ## Inputs - One project (not the whole company) and two or three people who know it: the VDC/BIM lead, the project manager, a superintendent. - Evidence they can show: BEP, model files, coordination records, schedules, metrics. ## Procedure 1. Ask the questions area by area. Each answer needs evidence ("show me", "where is it written?"); unknown is a valid answer. - Planning: are VDC objectives written, quantitative and agreed with the owner? Is there a BEP with responsibilities, LOIN by milestone and exchange formats? Were stakeholders involved early? - Adoption: which stakeholders use the models and how (designers only, contractor, trades, owner/FM)? Are there ICE/coordination routines? How many model uses run in practice vs on paper? Attitude and training of the team. - Technology: maturity of model uses (visualisation, coordination, quantities, 4D/5D, fabrication, FM data), interoperability (IFC, BCF, IDS), suitability of model detail for each use, common data environment. - Performance: are VDC objectives tracked with metrics? Which were met? Evidence of impact on time, cost, quality, safety (rework, RFIs, clashes resolved before site, prefabrication). 2. For each area, place the project in one of five tiers - conventional, typical, advanced, best, innovative practice - by the evidence, and write one sentence why. 3. Identify the 3 gaps with the biggest effect on Performance (usually objectives not quantified, models not used beyond designers, no tracking). 4. 90-day plan: for each gap one action, owner, metric and date; link to the skills that help (`vdc-implementation-plan`, `bep-builder`, `ifc-ids-validation`, `ice-session-planner`, `make-ready-constraints`). 5. Repeat the assessment after 90 days with the same people and compare. ## Output - Area-by-area table: evidence, tier, reason; top-3 gaps; 90-day plan; questions left unanswered. ## Never - Never call the result an official VDC Scorecard score or percentile. - Never give a tier without evidence; mark "no evidence" instead. - Never assess people; assess the project's practice.
